This Noritake crystal bud vase is 4.75" high x 3" at the base and weighs 15 ounces. It was probably blown into a mold. The top has been ground flat and highly polished. I think the design has been acid etched, though could possibly have been sandblasted. It is a heavy little vase and very well executed. Not sure if it was made in Japan or made for Noritake in another country. Not calling it a mystery even though I am not sure where it was made. Possibly made by Sasaki Glass.

I have been looking for some Noritake art glass, comparable to what Karen AKA racer4four has posted but this is the closest I could come. This vase was on a US auction site for many months but I kept passing it by in hopes of finding something grander marked "Made in Japan", but to no avail. I bought this vase several months ago and just parked it on a shelf in hopes of finding a better example but am finally bowed in defeat, so here it is.

The Noritake name is on glass/crystal made in Japan, Poland, Germany, Spain, and ....... This is only the third piece that I have been able to find with this label and the only mentions of a Noritake "Art Crystal" line. The other two piece were on a Japanese auction site and one used the same color glass and etching technique but in a different configuration. In image three I show some insets of the other vase. The third piece was a clear crystal etched paperweight.

The fact that the similar vase and paperweight were on a Japanese auction site makes me suspect that all three pieces were made in Japan.

Thanks Eileen! I think it was sandblasted since the etching tapers off gradually.....
