    I have some smaller brass/bronze ones, but this is definitely my smallest Porcelain one at under 2 inches across. I wonder what the pestle looked like? and what would such a tiny mortar have been used for?

      COOL! I have a little fired ceramic one that's not much bigger around someplace here, its pestle is typically shaped, just short for its thickness. I'll try to find it and get some pics, I was told it was intended to grind up pills/tablets.
