This snake okimono is 6.5" long x 4.5" high x 3" wide and weighs 1 lb 2 ounces. Probably made by Saegusa's studio after his death.
I am still attempting to categorize the marks used by this artist during his lifetime and by his studio after his death using very scant sources of information. Generally, I think flashy finishes and bright colors were used by his studio after his death. This is based solely on the appearance the marks used on these pieces and examples of boxes and accessories that accompanied them. The box for this piece has not survived.
The mystery part of this piece is who made it and when.

Thanks dav2no1 and blunderbuss2!
Thanks Eileen. Still too nice to leave to an uncertain fate. Too recent to show wear from normal handling. Maybe they let the kids play with these... They will someday gain a patina commensurate with the damage.
Thank you rancherswife!
