My private kokeshi collection: one cute kokeshi that I'm not sure if it's traditional or creative. I go for creative. I'm searching other kokeshi lie this one to find it's creator. So far it is still a mystery to me.

This is what is known as an “omiyage” (souvenir) kokeshi. My collection are mainly omiyage, as I collect 1950s-1970s nodders.
Omiyage kokeshi are not usually signed, as they were made by a variety of people, for example they would be turned by one person and painted by another etc.
The writing on it will probably tell you where the lighthouse was - I have one that is shaped as a lighthouse and, from the painting on it I managed to identify which lighthouse it was, before getting that confirmed by someone who could read Japanese.
If you aren’t already a member and are interested in kokeshi it is well worth joining the Facebook group Kokeshi Village as there are loads of really experienced kokeshi collectors with a wealth of knowledge, including Japanese readers.
