    Hello everyone!!
Among all of the cast iron dogs in my collection are these antique cast iron Dalmatians. I've seen several Dalmatian andirons, as well as the identical doorstop version, over the years, but none with such detail. The paws and even the toenails are so very well defined on these fellows. I'm assuming these Dalmatians were going to be andirons, or possibly even doorstops, but were never completed at the foundry. Or, perhaps they just didn't meet the standards of the foundry that cast these. So, the fact that these were never completed at the foundry makes them even that much more rare. Either way, I'm very happy to have these in my collection. These Dalmatians are from around 1900-1910. They stand 13 3/4" tall and 7" at their widest point. They weigh a bit over 7lbs each.

Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!
    Scott

      Eileen,
Thanks!! There were two different makers of this style of doorstop and they were both very similar to these and both are cataloged as Dalmatians. These were pretty rusty when I took ownership. But, a wire brush, a bit of elbow grease, a coat of transparent wax and a good buffing brought them back to life.
