I bought this lamp at an estate sale in New Orleans from a beautiful home on St. Charles that was filled with such gorgeous antiques and exquisite furnishings and priced accordingly.
I headed outback where I found two unique pieces that were more in line with my budget, but I guess didn’t make the cut to be inside the home. The lamp referenced on here is one of the items and the other item was a unique lacquered red basket with sections that could be removed with a handle and dragon type picture on top.
When I bought the lamp, they did point out that it missing the right side black metal post and base piece needed , but I decided I was up for the challenge. Turns out it was a little harder than I thought it would be to find the pieces, but I am not giving up yet. Looking for suggestions on where I might find these missing parts or if I am searching fir the impossible. Also, any idea what kind of lamp this is? I am not sure what this lamp is made of, but it is really heavier than you would expect. So much so that my curiosity actually got the best of me so I weighed it 6 lbs!
Thanks! Gwen.
Updated with pictures of the lamp lit up and made corrections to original message.
I like that lamp a lot, too!! Since the missing parts are purely decorative in nature, I wouldn't think it'll be all that difficult to find/make replacements that at least *looked* the same, or very close, even if you'd end up actually replacing both sides so they'd remain identical. For that matter and as your newest pic shows, it *still* looks pretty cool even when you've just taken the same two 'missing parts' off of the other side, and it matches itself again?!! :-) ;-) :-) :-)
Thank you so much for your response! It’s funny because your pattern of ideas was verbatim to mine. I too looked at the lamp with the pieces missing and really liked it as well! The guy sold it to me for $4, so it was a great find at a great price that I couldn’t pass up!
