Hello everyone!!
Another of my Easter bunnies is this whimsical cast iron still bank with a rabbit sitting atop an Easter egg. Of all my still banks, it's one of my favorites. This one is a multi-piece design. As you may be able to see, the arms and ears were cast separate from the rabbit. Since there are multiple pieces to this still bank, it would have been very costly to make back then.
The coin access mechanism was patented on Feb. 2, 1875. Though the coin access was patented in 1875, that does not necessarily indicate that the bank itself was made then. But, this bank would still date back to the late 1800's. It's 7 3/4" tall, the base is 5 1/2" wide and it weighs 4lbs 11oz. So, for a still bank, it's quite heavy.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!

Super fun Victorian rabbit, love those awesome feet! I could picture him in Alice in Wonderland, as if dropped from the sky onto the big egg :)
Jenni,
Thanks!! I love those big feet as well. He does indeed look as though he were dropped from the sky onto that egg:)
