Oh, what a pleasure it is to get back into antique fairs!
I went to a local one today, not a large scale affair, but still a chance to see some different stuff, & after two years without such opportunities, why not? Seize the day, I say!
So...there was some interesting stuff on display despite the small scale. I was just enjoying getting among it all, feeling all the feelings, etc, when I spotted this stunner. The price was reasonable (reflecting a condition issue) & so it was quickly a done deal.
This is a truly EPIC Victorian art glass basket - it has so much going on.
Made from translucent clear to yellow & opalescent glass, it has a crackle finish. It measures around 22 cm tall at the highest point of the handle, 15 cm across the crimped, crenelated top rim, & 8 cm across the base, which has a rough pontil mark. There is an applied twisted thorny handle in yellow - green uranium glass, as well as an applied leaf trail & a very impressive pink spatter glass flower. I'm pretty sure this is the biggest applied flower I've got on anything in my collection - it measures 7.5 cm across.
There is a crack on one side, but the crackle decor does a good job of making it less noticeable.
Most likely Bohemian origin, maybe Harrach.

Very nice, I love the spiky handles and in uranium green it just looks even better.

Thanks so much, Scott! I've really missed going to fairs over the last two years, & now I'm going to get to as many as possible...
