This one is literally an "attic find". [doesn't every proper attic havta have some weird old metal thing shaped roughly like a person in it somewhere?? I thought that was a rule...??]

Shown hanging on a door, I'm guessing it must have been meant for shirts or sweaters or somesuch garments, either to help them dry properly and in the correct shape after cleaning, or to help hold them in the correct shape during storage. Or something else that most people never need to bother to do to most of their clothes these days, but nevermind...

It is made of rather sturdy wire and/or tubing, with a pair of 'arms' on a 'torso', and about all parameters of each are adjustable at least an inch or more via pulling apart or pushing together telescoping areas where each 'spring' looking doo-hickey is located on it, those doo-hickies serve to hold the parts at the positions desired to fit whatever garment it is being put into. Both the 'arms' also raise or fold as seen, via one swivel/rivet connection between them and the main frame.

Anybody else ever seen anything like it, or actually know what it is called and what it is really intended to do, or how old it might be, or anything else about it?? I sure don't, and there aren't any markings or stampings or labels on it to help me find out...???

Yes I think that could be something from the Armstrong family
I think this was young Stretch Armstrong‘s coat hanger
