Inspired by Dave's car show photos with the front engine VW. These two models were part of the original Sweet 16 Hot Wheel models. There were two factories, one in California and the other in Hong Kong and they weren't always thew same. The Hong Kong version is the red one in this case. Both factories produced the models in several colors. There are two main differences. First are the engines and engine compartment. The USA version has a metal engine and a firewall. The Hong Kong version has a plastic engine. Both look good. The second is the underside. The Hong Kong version is detailed and the USA version is solid.
Also note both have a sun roof that opens and there is a single set in the back. Looks like Altered class dragster.
Very cool front engine VWs!!!!
Very nice!
Thank you very much Scott.
And thank you very much Dave and thanks for the inspiration.
