I could do with some help with this epaulette please. The top copper button looks to have a naval anchor but the decoration on the curve suggest different in my eyes. I thought these were issued to 'protect the shoulder from cavalry swords' That was referring to American civil war officers. I don't see this as American?? The decor has a round horn with trumpet/long bugle s and flags.
An age or military unit ID would really help my eyes a lot???? I need a bigger phone ....or get out the Laptop
Thanks in advance. Pete
Very interesting..it does have an anchor at the top and bugles or horns at the base.. not sure, but a quick search..it seems yours is pretty fancy. It seems to have a lot of engravings compared to others.
I'm wondering if this is a naval officer? And I may be way incorrect..but the horns feel..English to me..reminds me of the fox hunt pictures?
I get 'English' as well. Not really associated horns to the Navy but I was RAF so don't know. I might have to see how far back I can go. Marines come to mind. Can only wait to see if anyone finds out more. I didn't see many with decoration at all. Thanks dav2no1
