Growing up in the 1970s as a teen we had what seems like a ton of choices when it came to music. My first recollection was AM radio. Then my brother bought the "Red" and "Blue" Beatle collection on 8 Track. The first song I played with head phones on was Strawberry Fields. I was blown away. I soon found my way buying every Beatle album I could find in the stores. Ended up with nearly every common release that was available. Then I heard some "New Wave" and "Punk" stuff. The Punk stuff was a bit too much for me. The New Wave was different. I would listen to the then up and coming bands on WOMP FM Radio. Some of the songs caught my attention and I would seek out their albums. Looking back now I picked some winners! Many now in the Rock n Roll HOF, if that means anything anymore. But I did pick some flops as well. Well, not flops, the bands just didn't become successful to gain national attention. I thought sure Klaatu and 20/20 were going places. They did, kind of. But never became big time names. And another one. CATS. No, not them, not the musical. I heard CATS on WOMP FM and had to special order their album through national record mart. Sadly, only one or two good tracks on their debut album got any airplay and they never made it big. But I always liked the title song...On The Prowl. It's right up there with the power guitar bands of the day. Most likely only heard by people like me that searched them out. Haha! Here is their hit? song.
