Hello everyone!!
This is the only cast iron Irish Setter doorstop that I have in my collection. He's also one of the oldest I've seen. I really love the patina that this one has developed over the past 100+ years of it's life. I'm not sure which foundry made this one (Albany, National, etc...) as it is not a Hubley. There are no markings inside or outside than I can detect. Hubley made theirs in the early 1900's and used two screws to hold the halves together. This one, however, utilizes a single bolt and square nut (seen in pic #2) to secure the two halves together, which is a very old method. Another difference between this one and the Hubley version is that this one is open and you can see inside of it, as you'll see in pic #4. So, it's quite possible that this one dates around 1900 or earlier. This one measures 15 1/2" long, 8 5/8" tall and weighs 6lbs 10oz. This one is also slightly smaller than the Hubley version. Hubley's version measures 15 7/8" long and 8 3/4" tall.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!

Thanks very much!! There are so many of these for sale today, from reproductions to originals. But, this one has a different color pattern than any others I've seen.
