Just purchased this today from my favourite Antique/Curio shop. I first saw it last week and took it outside in the sun to see if there was any change but forgot the owner had updated the lighting to LED so there was none. I was in there again today and asked if he still had any fluorescents out back and sure enough there it went pale blue! Still couldn't make up my mind as it wasn't at a give away price but finally disturbed the moths and got my money out. Once home and cleaned (yeah he never bothers to clean any glass in stock) it looks fantastic.
I'm not sure who made it the elderly lady that sold it to him brought it new and had it a long time (late 60s early 70s) could be Murano or Japanese, the base is smoothly polished.
My first 3 pickys are in the sun shining into the kitchen lots of shadow as it's getting on in the day and almost winter here, the red really does look that bright!
The last photo with the curtains drawn and a fluorescent light held above it.
Quite a big piece 270mm high and 220mm long.
Beautiful neo & red glass swan, your color change pic is super - good for you finding fluorescent lighting it's so rare these days
Beautiful swan!!
Hi Bernard I've been going through your posts I have missed, so much beautiful glass!
I think this is Murano not Japanese.
She's beautiful.
Thanks Karen I hoped you would see it and be able to use your great knowledge of Japanese Glass! :)
Did a bit of Googling today and courtesy of "20th CenturyGlass" discovered it seems this is a 70s piece from Viartec THF Spain. He had found several with
"Viartec Hand Made in Spain" on them.
The other interesting thing is if you Google "viartec art glass" images the amount of very Murano look glass that comes up :)
