    Hello everyone!!
Among all of my cast iron creatures is this cast iron sperm whale. I've seen a few of these and most are painted black, with the exception of a couple different other colors, but not in this color pattern. I do love his blue and yellow colors and the design of this one. Some refer to this one as "Moby Dick". But, Moby Dick was actually a white sperm whale. So, only a white sperm whale could truthfully be referred to as a Moby Dick doorstop. This is from the 1940's-1950's. There is a reproduction of this one, that's widely available, but it's very crudely cast. The reproduction design is slightly different from the originals. For example, the reproduction has much larger and defined eyes.
Not sure who the foundry was that cast this whale, but they did a very nice job. I gave this fellow a coat of transparent wax to help preserve his finish. This whale is a one piece hollow body and measures 13" long, 7" at it's tallest point and 4" wide. He weighs 6lbs 8oz.

Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!
    Scott

      Hi kivatinitz!
You could very well be right about that. Thee are no markings, so it could very well be from Sweden. Thanks for the love, comment and for stopping by!!
