Hey Fellow Collectors!!! Here is just another of my postings in my search for my Grampa's "City of Boston Hackney Carriage Driver" badge #2377 issued in 1919. I've added a small sampling of a few of my badges, which, at last count, was over 40, as well as many original paper Hackey Licenses, booklets, etc. Grampa's badge should be the hexagonal shape seen in the image, but I don't know that for a fact. Most of my knowledge regarding the Hackney Carriage Driver careers of Grampa and a few of his sons has been compiled from an old 1919 "Report of the Police Commissioner of the City of Boston" as well as a few of the "Boston City Registry", both of which I found on-line. As a bit of F.Y.I., the original hard-copy of the 1919 Police Commissioner's Report was discovered inside an old storage chest in the attic of a home in Quincy, MA. Keeping in mind that the Boston Police Dept. went on strike in 1919, this document plays a significant role in my research, whereas it is the only such report I've been able to find. I plan on visiting the City of Boston Police Dept.'s Archives very soon in order to broaden my search. Of course, I'm really hoping and praying that one day a collector will "pop up out of the blue" to tell me They have my Grampa's badge!!! Thanks so much for reading my long-winded, but very sincere, request for your help in my 20 year-old search. Very truly yours on this Memorial Day weekend, Jim Ross, Jr. Wakefield, MA
