This stage lighting fixture is made by KLIEGL BROS. of New York, a long standing maker of such equipment. On an adjustable bracket, there was probably also a hook-clamp attached to that for mounting in various positions depending on usage. A little over a foot long, it features an ~8" clear glass fresnel-type lens on its front fastened into a hinged door that opens for servicing the bulb inside, which would have originally been a bi-pin type similar to a projector bulb, rated between 1K-2K watts according to the plate on the back of the fixture. There is a small crank handle on the front which moves the socket/bulb assembly back and forth inside the unit (along with pointers on each side) that would change the 'focus' and/or sharpen the edges of the light pool produced.
The original bi-pin socket inside has been replaced with a more common 'candelabra' style screw-in example, so I'll be able to light it up again (once I find it a good spot to live) using a much more reasonable (25w or so) and much less *hot* bulb. :-)
