For my lucky (?) #1700-th showing here (!!!) we have the second three-section traffic signal light that's now joined my Cincy MARBELITE outside on the patio, newly pulled out of my collection in storage and set up on an opposite corner. (the new Marb was getting lonely??)

This one was made by the CROUSE-HINDS Company of Syracuse, New York, a firm that started with specialization in traffic control equipment at about the same time as the start *of* traffic, but which has also produced an extraordinarily vast amount of any other kind of mostly industrial electrical thing you could imagine for over a hundred years -- from tiny light bulb sockets to entire power plants, and everything else in between.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crouse-Hinds_Company

Made of cast aluminum, it is set up in what we call a "12-8-8" configuration (the opposite of my Marbelite 8-8-12) which is also now somewhat unusual to find in active service out in the wild. (as the 'recommended standard' these days calls for all 12" indications) It is equipped with a part called a "slipfitter" at its bottom so it can be mounted atop a pole instead of hanging from something.

The iron pole it now lives on is admittedly shorter than average ;-) and features a heavy cast iron octagon shaped base to fasten it to its sidewalk. The removable door on the base bears the name TRAFFIC CONTROL CORP. of CHICAGO. Octagon bases were also once common things on many street corners everywhere but aren't often found now in 'new' signal installations, I'm happy to have it for that reason alone, even moreso because it still *has* its door -- those things have a habit of 'going missing' long before any odd base itself ever becomes surplus.

Its current paint color is somebody else's rattle-can job (except for the original black doors and visors that survived) and the base is a likewise spurious metallic green no doubt from somebody's buddy's auto paint shop, evidence shows both were yellow when in service. There is a date-wheel thing inside one of the doors that suggests the light was made in 1985. Its lenses are made of polycarbonate plastic.

It is currently awaiting some wiring and lightbulbs, then it'll join my Marbelite (and the EAGLE four-way beacon in the carport) to further help control all that bothersome vehicle traffic coming thru my backyard and across the patio. SAFETY FIRST 'ya know...???

    ;-) ;-) :-) :-) :-)

Perfect with all the traffic cones!

Well Watchsearcher, **normal** people would have railings around the edges of their patios. Or something like that, but mine didn't come with one. And I've gotta do *something* to keep people from falling off and suing me I suppose, for the homeowner's insurance anyways?? ;-)
And I havta have *somewhere* to put my collection of cones/stanchions/barricades and such including the recently acquired orange barrel, out of frame??

      Because, again, SAFETY FIRST y'all...??? ;-) ;-) ;-) <LOL>

What's that thing in front of the detour sign...some sort of light stand? Looks like it has a blue light on it?

Dave, that thing is a PATRON TEQUILA store display cage/piece (I've shown it here relatively recently) which came with a gold colored styrofoam ball on top, which being as such didn't 'weather' too well -- then somebody stuck the blue strobe beacon light (also shown not too long ago) on top of it instead because that, too, was just sitting around on the table anyway...?? ;-) ;-) ;-)
