A fairly complete collection of pre 1980 Bachmann Brothers locomotives. Prior to 1969, Bachmann only produced "static" items, such as buildings, scenic items, scale figures of people, animals, etc. That line was made famous, in the mid 50's, as the Plasticville line. Seeking to enter the model train arena, the company contracted with Kader (not to be confused with Kadee), a company located in China, to produce their locomotives, in 1969. My collection comprises almost every scheme available, in each locomotive model, before 1980 (I know of only two schemes I don't have, in this photo, and I've included a couple of later "E60" locos). The vast majority of these have the infamous Kader "8 wheel drive" chassis, made of low quality zamak. The failure rate of these lifetime warranteed chassis was tremendous, and led to a redesign of the assembly into a single truck drive, all plastic chassis, in the mid 70's.
