This cast iron dancing geisha okimono is about 6.75" high. There is an indistinct mark in a circle seen in image 4. I posted this one to contrast the very fine mold work of Keiten Takahashi with this unknown artist. Most of these dancing geisha are unmarked, though Keiten Takahashi did make some, which he marked. This is the only other marked example that I have seen. Both the mold work and finish are inferior to Takahashi's work, but may have a bit more value than the standard unmarked examples. Both the pose and size are unique to this piece, in my experience.
It is very dirty. It may have been "played with".
Some of the background looks like chain mail, gorgeous !~
Nice! Another very well cast piece!!
Thanks for your comments, Phil. I will be re-shooting it against a black background once I get it cleaned up!
Thanks for your comments, jscott0363. It is not too bad but it really needed a lot of file work to clean it up before applying the finish, which was not done. It could have a been really nice piece. A good sign that it was a production piece is that it is so rough, even though signed.
Thanks for loving my dancing geisha okimono Cisum, blunderbuss2, dav2no1, Alfie21, Mrstyndall, jscott0363, Jenni, BHIFOS, PhilDMorris, fortapache and vcal!
Thanks, Kevin!
