Hi, does anyone know anything about the artist of this beautiful watercolour I inherited yesterday?

I’m so intrigued to find out who painted it? There is an address and name written on the back.

    It says: S BAIRAGI, Calcutta.

Any help or advise would be very greatly appreciated x

Welcome to CW. If you plan on keeping this painting, you should replace the backing and mat with an acid free mat and backing as the old mat and backing are causing degradation to the painting. Acid in the current materials will continue to cause damage. This also appears to be a mix of watercolor and gouache which will fade over time if displayed in bright light. It should never be hung in direct sunlight.

Many thanks for your advice. I am in no way an expert but appreciate this advice. I’m still looking for some information about the artist if anyone can help.
