This Sasaki glass basket is about 8.5" high x 4.5" in diameter. It has a ground bottom and Sasaki label. There are quite a few bubbles in the glass.
I have not seen anything like this from Sasaki before and, since it had a "Best Offer" option, I bid 30% less than the asking price, not really thinking it would be accepted. I am not really adding Japanese glass to my collection anymore, especially larger pieces like this, so was somewhat dismayed to find that my offer had been accepted when I woke up this morning. Oh well, it is a fairly unusual, labeled piece so I can deal with it!
Guessing it was swung in a mold and then hand worked to pull a handle and attach it. I was not able to find another example of this basket and it is the only Sasaki basket that I have seen.
Japanese art glass prices have gotten a bit silly so that, along with space considerations, has cooled my ardor for the shiny temptation of that glass.
Seller's images until I can re-shoot it.
Totally gorgeous basket, what an intense shade of green - love it!
Thanks for your comment, Jenni! The color is what first attracted my attention!

Interesting and cool.
Tis is very unlike the other slag/coloured glass Sasaki made and the internal ribbing is just SO different!
I love it, Kevin
Thanks Karen!
