I recently added Le Seffluer aka “The Whistler” by V Sczeblewski. The original was in bronze circa 1889 in Poland. When “ The Whistler” arrived in the US around 1910, he was transformed into a cigar lighter counter display. Underneath his base, supports a opening for a gas line. He also would have a small tube to function as a cigar. I have no intention of transforming him into a lighter. He looks just fine the way he is. UPDATE: I had a reputable collecter give this gent the “once over” and he showed me the seam marks around the neck and mid section attaching the hips to the legs which mostly likely shows he was cast in three separate sections using brass then in nickle. This was shown when the statue was poorly buffed losing some of his natural patina.
