      Cool, thanks for looking around! The ones on etsy don't have a flat back and the letters aren't as legible. Does that offer any credibility to its authenticity (the one I found, that is)?

      I could be wrong but in my opinion this is Dutch. Major similarities with the Coat of Arms of the Netherlands with the text "Je Maintiendrai" underneath.

      Yes! Good thoughts! Thank you! I think that is the right track now. Ya know, I've never tried to look up something like this. For me, it's usually classifying mushrooms or unusual plants or birds I find, not old buttons! ???? But when my son found it and wanted to know where it was from I said we could try to find out. It's been so fun!
