I bought these from a pawn broker in the US….I have been looking up the silver marks….one is 1779 and it seems that so is the other one but the lion rampant is back to front….was this a usual mark….?? They are similar in form with rapouse grapes and one with flowers in panels. Both have cartouches one filled one empty.
Has anyone got an idea for the silver marks. One has a hand etched name on the outer edge of the base….LOUISE BETH WALKER one on each side of the base….one in copperplate and the other printed in caps. Was this inscribed by the owner perhaps…..? What does the 2 and the 4 allude to…..the number of coins??
I love a mystery….can anyone help…..??
I look forward to hearing from you….????
