    Hi - Someone gave these to me and I would have guessed they are German but at the bottom of one mug it says made in Japan. Any insight is appreciated!

      At the time they were made, it was probably cheaper to have them made in Japan than in Germany. Probably made for an American importer. Nowadays, they would no doubt be made in China instead of Japan.
