Another Pukeberg art glass decor production which followed the Tango Czech inspiration in Austria/Bohemia, except the Swedes chose a very neutral combination of color, glossy opaque black and pale custard.

I recently found this very small, delicate yet excellent glass fabrication of the egg cup (image 1) with attached saucer, not marked, these were labelled as most of the Pukeberg items were, no signature, and no permanent ID mark either. It is easy to see why they are not well known, in the midst of the high interwar export volume from Europe, especially to the USA. (see Truitt Volume I). They are also shown in the Pukeberg art glass catalog of 1925. There were two main shades used green jade and custard.

Images are representative of the whole line of these Cryopas pieces, from archived auctions, mostly in Sweden, also found in Swedish glass museums.

The consensus among art glass collectors, is that this particular glass is not well known or documented, based on two factors. The Swedish taste was more sober, traditional and practical, they did not like the bold and colorful glass designs. This would change in the 1960s-70s. The market was already focused on the other famous Scandinavian glass houses such as Holmegaard, Orrefors and IItalia.

Very cool array of Pukeberg glass! I have a few pieces of Pukeberg but nothing like this. I just posted a glass cat paperweight I think may be Pukeberg....
