Help. I am having trouble Identifying this piece. I have searched and it seems like a Murano but the bottom isnt smooth so I am assuming that it is a hand blown piece. I have googled and searched so I was hoping someone would be better at helping me figure this out. I recently inherited all my grandmas glass and this piece is so interesting just cant figure it out. Thanks in advance

Welcome to CW! I cannot be certain, but from your images, it appears to have what is called a "snapped pontil".

That is not seen much on Italian art glass, in my experience.

It may be American. I see that you are from West Virginia where there were many American glass makers in the 20th century. Most are long gone, closed due to competition from other countries. Blenko is still active and I occasionally see snapped pontils on some of their work. Their catalogs are online on their web site:

They made similar products to your ashtray. It may be their work.

Or, it could be the work of another WV glass maker.

kwqd. Thank you. I will search and see if maybe this is one of their pieces. My grandmother wasnt from WV and picked up glass all over the country so it is hard to tell honestly where it came from but now I atleast have a direction to go. Thank you.
