A friend of mine that worked at the Johnson space Center in Houston
almost had the big shots ,convinced of the advantages
of sending an armadillo into space ,sure
the Russians had a dog ,,in orbit...
he still has the armadillo ,
he had chosen for the Mission

Ahh, the armadillo. Curious creatures indeed, remarkably durable (and often quite hateful when they think they're trapped?) commonly known around here as 'speed bumps' by those of us that live in southern climates where they naturally live, because it often nearly takes an impact from a motor vehicle traveling on a highway to actually dispatch 'em, and because for some reason they seem to tend towards the poor decision making (on their part) to hang out in the middle of such roads after dark, while they also seem to completely lack the ability to react to oncoming headlights fast enough to get out of the way...
