This old brass ceiling light fixture is missing its original canopy and glass globe, but is otherwise intact and undisturbed. When I got it the globe was still intact (a relatively simple thing quite like those for common ceiling fan fixtures available everywhere) that suffered an unfortunate fall from a hook on the wall :-( and I never had the actual canopy part.
Not that it indicates who made the whole fixture -- probably not in fact -- but the only markings on it are the name "AMERICAN" on the side of its light socket shell, which also has a prominent "A" logo on its turnkey switch knob.
That's all I know about it, other than it is also something I rescued/recovered someplace I don't now remember, years ago...and it looks like it probably dates to the 1920's or so...??
