This ceramic planter is 6" high x 7" long x 5" wide. It is marked "PAT.NO. 60265, MADE IN JAPAN" on the bottom. It is made of extremely thin, hand painted ceramic, so thin that it is hard to believe it has survived, probably since the 1930s.
A $.25 thrift shop find, similar to the more robust, but much plainer porcelain example that I purchased on an online auction site a few months ago. I think it was serendipity that this one popped up in a local thrift shop, since I have never seen one locally before.
It was obviously made for export, maker not known. Patent 60265 was granted in 1927, so this is apparently fairly old, antique, even.
Very sweet geese pose, and great score
These geese are great, I sometimes hate when they painted scenery on the geese but in this case it appears you are looking through something like a flower bed to see their beauty, gorgeous find !~
