I’m pleased to share this marvellous craftsmanship Jenny Lind style trunk made by a high quality company Crouch and Fitzgerald. The interior is beautifully adorned, with extra trim pieces latches and design features. I have a list of trunk makers that I would like to have an example of, and I’m happy to finally find one from this company.
That is a wonderful find . It's in great original condition for it's age.The interior label is a rare one, that I have only seen twice. It has an image on that label of a rare trunk that we all search for.Maybe one day that one will be found. Thanks for the post T-man.
Thanks so much Drill… so I just looked a little closer of that trunk image… it’s a bit messed up but what is that!! Like a four sided Jenny Lind?? Now I’m intrigued…
Oh my!! What a find! I love Jenny Lind trunks, and this is an exceptional find. The six brass bands. The beautiful interior. And an excellent quality trunk maker. You hit the jackpot with this one!
Thanks so much myoldkyhome… I get surprised every time I come across a unique piece !!!
Fantastic ! I have never seen another like it and it is a very handsome trunk!
Thanks Manikin for the kind comment !!
It appears to be an image of a equal sided Jenny Lind T-man, hinged on the flat side not the rounded side. I and others have been looking for quite some time for it. Zoom in on the label. Happy hunting.
Thanks Drill…
There arises out of the mist of time, a new Holy Grail of Trunkdom… my quest is now assured…
Wow! Gorgeous colors, amazing after all this time.
Thanks gundy03130… appreciate the kind observation!!
Although yours is in far superior condition, I think it's safe to say I have this exact same trunk! To prove myself, I'm not sure if you gave any sort of description to the unique qualities of this trunk on here (if you did, I didnt read it) and Im not sure how many photos you posted but of the four that I am able to view, none of them portray that:
underneath those brass buttons/casings are (I wanna say wood) molds or that there are four wheels that sit barley hidden underneath each corner that allow it to glide effortlessly across the floor and that if you pull down that first compartment in the dome lid, there is yet another compartment that sits inside the lid of the trunk!
Would all of that be true for you too?! I'm curious to know! I acquired mine from my grandma and it even has the original key to it too! They really are a unique piece. I've been looking into historic data bases and museums to try to find like blueprints and reproduction numbers or any info really to see how rare these are cause I do believe they are exceptionally unique! I would be interested in knowing any history or other information (**coughs** price **cough** sorry it's flu season) you may know about it that you'd be willing to share. I'd also be happy to send you pictures of mine if you were at all curious. And just as a side note I thought I should add that I am in no way trying to purchase yours nor do I have any intentions of selling mine, I'm really just curious to know more about it. I just submitted pictures and what not (mind you, to a free online website) to get mine valued/appraised/looked at or whatever you want to call it and Ive been eagerly awaiting for their response. I'm kinda new to the antique world but I really enjoy learning about the history behind stuff like this. This is the 3rd trunk I've ever owned (the first two were sadly lost when our home burned to the ground about a year and a half ago) but this one has been by far the most unique one this rookie (me) has ever came across that's for sure! Thank you for posting this, it made my night!
That’s great to know! Drop me a hello via email and I would love to further the conversation. basic23skidoo@hotmail.com
Thanks for the comment!
Outstanding!! I'm officially jealous! This is one of the most beautiful and pristine Jenny Lind trunks I've ever seen. I've never been lucky enough to find one in this condition.
Thanks so much Js… appreciate the comment and the jealousy.. LOL… :)
