I don't know what it first was made for, just that it was a gift from a friend who otherwise got it with an elderly electrical device (which it wouldn't ever have been attached to originally) and duly replaced it with something 'safe' ;-) :-) and then pulled it back out of his trash can and stuck it in a little box to mail to me, simply because I asked about it... <lol>
The crimped spade lugs on one end obviously aren't original, but the black rubber (now hard as a rock) two prong plug on its other end could be. Twisted-pair cords like this were commonly 'standard' on all varieties of electrical things in the early days of home electrification, so it truly sorta could have come with about anything...this one remains readily flexible (without otherwise making crispy-crunchy noises when it is flexed) thus could conceivably still be (carefully!) re-used with live electricity, if/when I find something else 'old' that would look better with it. If there is a makers mark it'd be on the inside of the plug under the wires, which I haven't taken loose to look for. (because I really don't care about that, to me, rather insignificant detail? <lol>)
