I got these things in an auction box. Did a bit of research only to find that there is not much info on them out there in cyberspace.
The company, Great Southern Corporation of Memphis TN, is still around but they are out of the tackle business. I was able to speak with their oldest employee who told me that they had them made in Hong Kong back in the 60's.
Each lure has "Hong Kong" imprinted on it.
He just was unable to nail down an exact date for me.
The lures are in pretty darn good shape but their cards are showing their age a bit.
I heated up a needle and tested one of the lures. It showed that the lures are a resin of some kind and not wood.
I would truly appreciate any info that you may be able to share as, right now, I know very little about them.
Sadly, no one seems to know anything about these lures. I was hoping that I could gather a bit of info about them before I put them on the market. I suppose I shall remain uninformed and go blindly into the wilderness!
I looked for awhile, but couldn't find much on these. You might want to find a fishing collectors forum and ask there. Make sure you cone back and update us if you find any new information..
