If this isn't a perfect illustration of Victorian "fancy glass", I don't know what is!
This came to me from England, a rare international purchase. It was just so special that I couldn't resist.
It is made from cased glass, clear over bands of ruby, white, & yellow - green, with applied machine threading in white. There is an applied footed base composed of four leaf - life forms.
Most likely of English origin, perhaps by Richardsons - the vertical bands are somewhat reminiscent of those seen on their tulip vases.
This has a little twist in the story - I'd received email notifications that it had been delivered - I was out for the day, though there was someone at home. But when I got home that night, there was no parcel to be found. So, there was some worry until this morning when it was found to have been wrongly delivered to the house next door, even though the seller had addressed it correctly. I'm sad to say that despite taking the parcel into their house, they had not made an effort to return it to the correct address until my partner knocked on their door. I know I would have immediately tried to find the rightful owner of a parcel wrongly delivered to me. All I can say is that at least I got it in the end, though I remain disappointed at this behaviour, though it is not entirely unexpected...

      Thanks so much, Michelle!
I'd not seen another piece like this for sale, but I recalled seeing something like it in a book a while back, so I had a residual memory I guess. I went through a few books today & ended up finding an example of a vase by Richardsons (my hunch was right) with a similar decor on a different shape...I'll post it soon.

Marin, that is great! Don't you just love it when you can find a similar example? Terrific it is Richardson, too! :)

Absolutely! I was thrilled to find another example of this decor with an attribution. Have now posted an image from the book I found it in...
