Makin' Time Ceramic Shirt Clock

This is a rather interesting novelty clock and we know nothing about its origins.
It is ceramic and measures 12 x 8.5 inches. On the label inside the collar you can just barely make out "Makin' Time". However, on the back, it has "Makin' Time '83" written into the ceramic.
There is a Makin' Time Clock company in Boulder CO but they told me it was not one of their creations.
The three cats over the left pocket remind me of the old Kit Kat clocks that used to be so popular.
We think it's a cool little novelty item and it works just fine so we don't want to just hide it away somewhere.
Has anybody ever seen anything similar or could anyone perhaps shed any light on where this might have been made?
