    The Buffalo nickel or Indian Head nickel is a copper-nickel five-cent piece that was struck by the United States Mint from 1913 to 1938. It was designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser.

      The one you want, is the 3 legged buffalo.

      In the '70's-80's, these were real common in Haiti in change. Old US money in countries indicates no black market. Something one soon learns to look for when you travel a lot.
