Adding to Daisy1000 Butterfly's and Summers ending collection.
This one is an ORA, rhinestones and red stones for eyes...
Well, I thought it was a brooch, but it must be a scarf clip, hair clip?!? I don't really know. Those pins are pretty wicked looking on it that's for sure. And now I'm thinking it's a Moth, not a butterfly?!
It's wings are hinged & spring loaded which makes way for those pins to pop out and ready to grab something.
Oh, and it's got a patent pending number on it also.

PhilDMorris, HIEEE!!! I miss you so much! Thanks for the compliment! I tried this as a brooch and yes, it works as one, I suppose on a sweater or jacket lapel is best for this style, it's a little heavy for a blouse. So good to see you, thanks for stopping in!

Hi Jenni!!! You have all the answers ;) with all the costume pieces I've had over the years, I really don't recall ORA. I did for the first time put it on last night and in my opinion, I think this clip works much nicer than a pin! I wonder why it's not used, or wasn't used much as a standard attachment!? Searching1, same here. I was just thinking about researching the patent no. But it's been so long since I've done that, it prob would take me way too long to do... But now that I'm even more curious, I most likely will. If I do, hopefully I can come back w the brand name or owner of that pat no.
Very nice butterfly! That one looks like it could serve many purposes, including being attached to a belt as a buckle perhaps, or as a coat clip, shoe clip, or scarf clip. It is interesting.
