Just picked this up yesterday in day of hot buys. Also it was hot. Also please note I straightened out the ladder in photo #1. Aside from all that this is a kit which only requires a screwdriver to put together. Thatr and a needle file. Took about an hour to put together. After about 50 years it does not seem to want to go together as easily as it would have 50 years ago.
This has the lettering of an AT&SF car which is the older name of Santa Fe so this would be one of their older cabooses. This is also known as a copula caboose. I am thinking a caboose like this would fit in a layout from the 1920s to the 1960s.
There is a bay window peeping in a couple pictures but I fear I will need another for a proper post. Just a bit too much missing on it. But it is a proper caboose red. The subject of this post is boxcar brown. I have a few more Athearn cabooses to share. Perhaps we shall have a caboose fest.
