Post Civil War— maker was not a civil War manufacturer.
Buttons are not military.

Thanks for the reply! I'll try to find some info. on the manufacturer on-line.
I just found the same buttons on ebay. They're Knights of Pythias "Lily Rank". Whereas the coat has these buttons, I think it's safe to assume it's a K. of P. ceremonial coat. Thanks for your input!!! I guess I answered my own question!!!
Makes sense — pettibone did make a lot of fraternal wear in the late 19th- early 20th century.
