One of my favourites of the old Birmingham collection, dated 17th September 1961, still at school aged 14, the colmore row view see enlargement. I remember the j Lyon’s tea bar and restaurant that was on the corner that led into new street. The corner was demolished in 1970, there was also a photographic shop as well . It was opposite the council house . I used to go in the restaurant a lot in the 1960s and have a pot of tea and sandwiches, there was a downstairs part of the restaurant which served the same as the ground floor, it was nice and cool down there on a hot day. It was open till 10pm at night, I used to have a look in the camera shop which sold secondhand cameras , Leica and rolleiflex were among the top end models, shame it all came down in 1970 to make space for gardens and benches for visitors.see internet galloways corner Birmingham.
Thanks all for your interest.
Added photograph of the restaurant I used to visit in the 1960s namely j Lyon’s and co .
