Star Marked Glass Insulators
I finally got around to cleaning the large lot of insulators I bought. I did a 48 hour soak in oxalic acid. I used a 12 oz of Bar Keepers Friend in a large tote of water. Then a little toothbrush and elbow grease.
I'm just starting to sort through the 80+ insulators. Here's a few interesting ones.
The only markings are an embossed star. They have been quite a mystery for a long time. But it is now believed that The General Electric Company (GE) contracted with various manufacturers to produce these.
The two larger insulators are CD 162 & CD 145 and the two smaller insulators are CD 102 & CD 106.
***It's quite an interesting story and a lot of research was done to arrive at these conclusions. I will add the link to the explanation in the comments section.***
