We have been lucky to happen across two separate sets of vintage hand-carved redwood garden furniture by the Reed Brothers. The company was founded in Sebastopol, California by Ducan Reed in 1975. He has traveled the world learning the master craft of hand wood carving. Through the years it has been featured in design articles and is still produced today using the same exacting methods. Each piece--chairs, benches, chaise lounges, tables--are unique, beautifully designed, and feature rustic designs, including squirrels, quail, bunnies, oak leaves, acorns, pinecones, and detailed scrolling. Over time the unfinished redwood has acquired a soft silver patina that feels magical and ancient. Given proper care and the natural tannins of redwood, they will continue to age gracefully and last for decades to come.
Simply beautiful...well no, more than simply...but beautiful anyways. Puts my metal/glass patio set (which itself wasn't inexpensive) to shame, but OTOH if yours were mine the dawgs would prolly try to chew them to death, and they can't do that the iron ones I've got... <LOL>
Thanks AnythingObscure! No dawgs, but deer in search of apples can be pretty rough with stuff! On the flip side, gray fox kits like to play around it.
Link to brief history of Reed Brothers: https://www.reedbrosfurniture.com/pages/about-us We would guess most of the pieces we have acquired are twenty to thirty years old.
