Lacquered Wood Arhat [i think]

I think that this is either an Arhat or a Monk or a Buddhist scholar. It's nicely lacuered and stands 8.5 inches tall. He's holding a large fruit or something in his hands. I found it at the flea market yesterday. Any info appreciated. i don't think it's very old but i like lacquerwork and Buddhist figures.
