Can this piece be verified as authentic Maria Martinez as we were told?

It is definitely not by Maria Martinez from San Ildefonso.
She never made pottery on a potter's wheel, like this was, nor did she (or any of the people who decorated her pots) make incised decorations like this.
Save the money from a paid appraisal, and buy a book, such as Susan Peterson's "The Living Tradition of Maria Martinez," which will confirm this is not remotely like Maria's work.
