ESCI was started in 1972. I think they are still around and this is of recent production although I could be mistaken. They make a huge range of figures such as these that are more obscure. This set is Muslim Warriors, looks to be based on the 19th century. I am thinking they are supposed to be battling the British. There was a set of British soldiers i should have bought along with this set. Unlike the box art I don't see any spear armed warriors here.
The figures look to be very well sculpted. There are a total of 50. There are 30 of the ones seen in photo #2, 15 0f those in photo #2 and 5 of the ones in the lower half of photo #4 and only one of each of those is in this set. Not many useless poses in this set and I am thinking they can reinforce the Airfix Arabs attacking the Foreign Legion in Fort Sahara.
