I don't remember where this came from, but i found it in my desk back home in NH the other day. I just tried winding it up and it works! i've never heard of Gruen and i don't even where a wrist watch, so i'm completely in the dark on this one.
i just found this ebay listing which has more info: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255783384187?hash=item3b8de0b47b%3Ag%3A3N0AAOSwNtVjTUnb&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5336393591&customid=&toolid=10049
Well you're in good hands. Grun thought wristwatches were feminine and didn't produce any till after after WWI.
"It was founded in 1894 by German-born watchmaker Dietrich Grün, who changed the spelling of his name to "Gruen" because the letter ü does not exist in English."
"In 1904, the company introduced the VeriThin pocket watch movement, a new arrangement of components that allowed the movement to be made much thinner."
Gruen also made a semi-thin.
One I posted a few years ago.
