This unusual item was highly attractive to me about 15 years ago. At 5 pounds it was a high cost for shipping, but nothing like today's prices. It is meant as a high relief clay tile, with hand painted detail of a town house street front with windows, stairs and brightly colored Danish style wall seen on antique wood structures, painted with a traditional red or yellow tinted mixture, and still maintained this way today.
With the internet's Denmark travel and design sites, you will find many real house image examples. Of course when Danish ceramist artist Allan Hytholm designed this series starting in the 1990s, one of several that are still found on a few auction sites, there was no WWW and his efforts had much more meaning as an original way to celebrate his culture.
