This abstract pottery sculpture is 7" long x 7.5" high x 3.5" wide. It is maybe titled or signed "FylBy", dated 2014 and illegibly (to me) monogrammed on the bottom. Perhaps meant to be titled "FylBy"? It weighs 2.5 lbs. The monogram is perhaps "tsg"? It is new enough that the artist may see it and identify themself.

I like the contrasting colors of the glaze, the whimsy of this piece and I think it is pretty well executed. Guessing it was a student piece at one of the two local universities' pottery program, probably from the collection of a local collector which is being liquidated as there are currently many differently signed pottery pieces at the thrift shop where I found it.

I walked up to vote today, which depleted most of my energy about half way back as I have been fighting some sort of respiratory malady for several weeks. Sad since I was walking 3-4 miles almost every day up until this started. No joke, stay away from crowds of people as I am now hearing this is a "thing" and I am finding it very hard to shake off.

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I was driving by a local thrift shop on my way home from somewhere and stopped in and bought my weird glass seashell paperweight (maker still unknown) but also noted two or three other pieces which interested me. I am on a bit of hiatus from collecting due to some upcoming bills but figure I can spend a few dollars a month for mood improvement, so stopped in to purchase a very unusual Joe Rice glass paperweight which I had spotted on a previous visit, it was only $9. Alas, it was no longer there but two pottery pieces I had noted were. (Hah! I later found that Joe Rice paper weight at a thrift store across the street for $12 and bought it)

At this point I am not willing to pay full price for anything so am making much reduced offers on things and if they are accepted, I take it as a sign it was meant to be. So, I offered 40% less than asking price for this piece and it was accepted, so paid about the cost of a movie ticket at a theater for it. It was meant to be! Well... I am smiling looking at it, however, and it will entertain me for longer than two hours.
