Hi all!
I have this massive 18.5," thickly potted, grey bodied terracotta wall charger (not pierced to hang on reverse) in what appears to be an early mid century "transitional" style using a combination of traditional fruit motif with a modernist, geometric art deco style pattern around the border. It weighs just shy of 10lbs and is idiosyncratically marked "MADE IN ITALV" on the reverse.
It has a soft, matte/satin sheen throughout-
no glossy finish as seen on other kinds of majolica/faience/talavera.
I'm looking for any help with the region of manufacture, possible makers (studio/designer) and what, besides wall mounting or covered up as a centerpiece on a huge table, this could be used for.
